Who Can Take Duolingo English Test 2025?
The Duolingo English Test (DET) is available to anyone interested in paying to improve their level of English for education, work, or immigration. There are no location limitations because the test is offered online, and you can take it from home if you follow the rules.
Key Info: No eligibility requirements are imposed on the Duolingo test; everyone can take it, provided technical and identification requirements are satisfied.

Duolingo Age Requirements
- Minimum Age: 13 years old
- Parental Consent: Required for candidates under 18.
- No Upper Age Limit: The test is open to all age groups
- Note: Some universities may have their own age or admission requirements
- Valid Government-Issued Photo ID (e.g., Passport, Driver’s License, or National ID)
- Stable Internet Connection & Webcam
- Microphone and Speakers (no headphones allowed)
- Quiet, Well-Lit Room with No Distractions

- Retake Policy: You can take the test twice within a 30-day period.
- Score Expiry: Scores remain valid for 2 years.
- No One-Skill Retake: Unlike IELTS, Duolingo does not allow partial section retakes.

Special Circumstances
- Duolingo does not provide official accommodations, such as a time and a half. Of course, as a home-based test, many of the logistical hurdles go away automatically.
- If you have a disability that may affect test-taking (such as vision or motor impairments), contact Duolingo support to inquire about possible solutions.
- Note: There is currently no separate form for accommodations as seen in standardized test centers. Duolingo is continually working to improve accessibility.
